Re: [MW:8955] IQI

Greeting,

Do not confuse with all the tables you have. Refer only the table which are applicable to your job by code of constructions are as detailed out in the procedure.

Refer to your procedure or code of constriction (as some code required to add reinforcement when you selecting the IQI)

Different code have different Tables.. Generally all are follow the 2% sensitivity requirement in case of wire type IQI and 2-2T in case of plaque type IQI.

For selecting the wire or plate type IQI first calculate the 2% (if sensitivity requirement is 2%) of the job thickness under testing. Refer that number in the table which will give you the value for the designated required wire or plate type IQI and the wire set in which the wire include.(many time you will not find exact no so select the smallest wire diameter wire available to your calculated values)

Still you have some doubt send me your joint details and code/specification applicable .I can help you selecting the wire.

Better get the technique sheet write and approved by level-iii/experienced people where you will find all the relevant information.

Thanks Gamne Krishnar,

My question was not clear  there's any formula(relation between the wall thickness and wire diameter) because I have many table(see the attached file) similar to your table.

 Thanks for your help

Heat tint (temper) colours on stainless steel surfaces heated in air // Heat tint

Introduction The colour formed when stainless steel is heated, either in a furnace application or in the heat affected zone of welds, is dependent on several factors that are related to the oxidation resistance of the steel. The heat tint or temper colour formed is caused by the progressive thickening of the surface oxide layer and so, as temperature is increased, the colours change.   Oxidation resistance of stainless steels However, there are several factors that affect the degree of colour change and so there is no a single table of colour and temperature that represents all cases. The colours formed can only be used as an indication of the temperature to which the steel has been heated. Factors affecting the heat tint colours formed Steel composition The chromium content is the most important single factor affecting oxidation resistance. The higher the chromium, the more heat resistant the steel and so the development of the heat tint colou...
