Re: [MW:8933] defects in SMAW process

The defects are; porosity, lack of fussion, under cuts, cracks etc

To avoid most of them make sure E 7018 is backed properly  as per electrode manufacturer's recomendations.

we are using A53 gr. B material for pipeline project. in SMAW process,
what defects we can expect in root, hotpass, fillup and capping.  we
are using E6010 2.5 mm for root and E7018 2.5 mm for hotpass and
capping.  for each defect, what measures we need to take for getting
good quality weld..

thanks,
shankark
