Re: [MW:15785] Requirement of PWHT in categorie D

Trichy,

PWHT will not be required, the reference thickness consider during the design calculation of the vessel is 20mm, the RF pad is only an attachement.

Dear experts,
we are doing welding in a vessel of joint nozzle to dish with reinforcement pad(pipe thick 10mm(32inch), dish thik 20mm & RF pad 20mm) the weld detail in drawing shows bevel(55 degree) followed with fillet(10mm). All are P1 material.
In my question : the total weld metal deposit is 50mm in a joint(40mm CJP & 10 Fillet)
code says above 38mm groove weld for P1 material PWHT is mandatory and also says groove & fillet exceed 26mm in 2inch pipe PWHT is required.
Now we will do PWHT or not in a particular joint. If not kindly tell the reason.
