Re: [MW:15781] travel speed and Heat input

Hi,

you cannot keep T/S blank in wps, since it is an essential variable in AWS D1.1, eventhough the impact test is not applicable.

Please check with your client, whether that structure frames is for low temperature service ?

Because, if impact test is required, then the CVN table for essential variables and supplementaries as per section 4 in AWS D1.1 all to be recorded and to be used, during PQR and for making WPS.

You should have recorded T/S during PQR, even for NO impact test condition.

With best regards,

Hi all,

We have a PQR qualified without impact test (as per AWS D1.1). Our project requirement says "Travel speed and Heat input shall be recored during procedure test". Does this says impact test is mandatory?
TPI told me to keep t/s and Heat input columns blank in WPS from that PQR -otherwise it means impact is mandatory.
Please help - how can I know if impact is mandatory or not if not mentioned in Construction code.

PS: WPS is for structural frames.

Thanks in advance
