Moreover,as per API1104,you will have to mention WPS at which point u
will removed external or internal clamps...mostly after 70% of root
completion.
Generally for line welding using internal clamps and tie in uses
external clamps...
Tack can be used with external clamps...if ur pipeline is properly
secure againts any bending..or misalignment...u can remvore clamps
after fit up...and tack welding remained for continuos welding.
