Re: [MW:15724] interpretation of the sub size, impact value and the temprature reduction as per asme 31.3 (table 323.3.4)

I think you need yo check for the impact test temperature from the material standart. For example if its AH36 material you need to check ASTM A131 standart for the required  impact test temparature. And  the impact values  mentioned at material standart is the value of 10mm standart test specimen. If your piece is under 10 mm  you need the to make an proportion . For example 10mm specimen  27J written at standart but if your specimen 5mm, the impact value must be (2x27)/3 J . You can check ASTM A131 Table 7 and dont miss foot notes

Dear experts
I have a dout in the interpretation of the sub
size, impact value  and the temprature reduction as per asme 31.3 table
323.3.4) and the material code (asme sec 12A for sa350 LF2,333GR6
table 5 and table 6  )
question is :- If the test piece is 3 inch sch 40 (thicknes 5.49)
and the thickness of the machined specimen for the impact is 5 mm
(more than the 80% thickness of the test specimen).do we have to
perform the impact test on the specimen what will be the test
temprature -46 deg centigrade  or -57  deg centigrade.
and what will be the impact value required for single and average.
