Re: [MW:15725] Minimum spots of hardness in a pipe weld.

Dear Hareesh,
Normally we have taken the hardness in the order of PM,HAZ,WELD,HAZ,PM. If the pipe is less than 12", we can take 2 spots like 0 and 180 degrees. 4 spots for 12"  and over. Average of three spots in each spot (For example in 0 degree three spots  in every PM,HAZ,W,HAZ,PM) shall be taken for consideration. There is a setting also in the hardness machine. Refer your hardness test procedure which is approved by your client or get help from your NDE contractor.

Dear Sir's,

What is the minimum number of spots to be taken for hardness in a pipe
weld. Some clients are specifying to take 3 or 4 spots and take the
average. Any code references. My construction code is ASME B31.3. But
if it there in any other construction code also, it will be helpfull
for me.

Please share your experience.

Thanking You,
