You could weld an insulation ring inside the skirt just below the bottom head, considering how thick your insulation would be. If it is just for personnel protection, insulating the shell outside of the skirt would probably be good enough, unless somebody stick their hands inside the skirt to touch the bottom head.

We have a SS vertical vessel for which we need to make insulation for Personel Proetction reasons.
Having a skirt welded around in its base, it looks confusing how to apply the insulation material knowing that its bottom is as well dish ended and fitted with Heat tracing cable. (see DSH).
Do you have any recommendation??
