RE: [MW:14973] Need WPS clarification with ASME and EN

For EN   -  Variable Essential:

Process 12

- Each variant of process 12 (121 to 125) shall be qualified independently.

- The qualification given for the flux is restricted to the make and designation used in the welding  procedure test.

Processes 131, 135, 136 and 137

- The qualification given to the shielding gas is restricted to the symbol of the gas according to EN 439.  However, the content of CO2 shall not exceed 10 % of that used to

qualify   the procedure test. Shielding gases not   covered by EN 439 are restricted to the nominal composition used in the test.

- The qualification given is restricted to the wire system used in the welding procedure test (e.g. singlewire or multiple-wire system).

- For solid and metal cored wires, the qualification using short circuiting transfer (dip) qualifies only short circuiting transfer (dip). Qualification using spray or globular transfer

qualifies both spray and globular transfer.

Process 141

- The qualification given to the shielding gas and backing gas is restricted to the symbol of the gas according to EN 439. Shielding gases not covered by EN 439 are

restricted  to   the  nominal composition used in the test.

- A weld procedure test made without a backing gas qualifies a welding procedure with backing gas.

- Welding with filler material does not qualify for welding without filler material or visa versa.

Process 15

- Qualification of the welding procedure is restricted to the plasma gas composition used in the welding procedure test.

- The qualification given to the shielding gas and backing gas is restricted to the symbol of the gas according to EN 439. Shielding gases not covered by EN 439 are

restricted  to   the nominal composition qualified.

- Welding with filler material does not qualify for welding without filler material or visa versa.

Process 311

- Welding with filler material does not qualify for welding without filler material or visa versa.

FOR ASME (SMAW)   - Variable Essential

.

- Essential Variable                      -  QW403.8 = T Qualified,   QW403.9 =  t Pass > 12 in. (13 mm),  ,QW403.11 =  P-No. qualified

- Supplimentry Essesntial Vriable  -  QW403.5 = Group Number,   ,QW403.6 = T Limits impact

- Essential Variable                        -  QW404.4 = F-Number,  QW404.5 = A-Number,   QW404.30 = t
- Supplimentry Essesntial Variable  -  QW404.7  =  Diameter > 14 in. (6 mm),  ,QW404.12  =  Classification

- Supplimentry Essesntial Variable  -  QW405.2  = Position

- Essential Variable                        - QW406.1  =  Decrease > 100°F (55°C)

-
Essential Variable                       - QW407.1   =  PWHT,   QW407.4   = T Limits
- Supplimentry Essesntial Variable  -  QW407.2  = PWHT (T & T range)

- Supplimentry Essesntial Variable  -  QW409.1  =  Heat input,  QW409.4 =  Current or polarity

- Supplimentry Essesntial Variable  -  QW410.9  = Multiple to single pass/side

Dear experts,

I have a doubt about WPS. Our company has WPS with ASTM material by ASME standard.
Whether this WPS can be used for the equivalent BS material or not.

Thanks & Regards,
Kumar S --
