One can choose to weld with a electrode classified for PWHT applications, for welding non-PWHT applications, this is not an essential variable, however for SAW process - it's same in this case
Hi Asad,
You can replace E7018 with E7018-1 but not ER70 S2 with ER70 S6 due to change in chemical composition (high Mn content).

Subject: Re: [MW:13913] use of E 7018 -1 & ER 70S-6 to weld SA 516 GR 70 MATERIAL
ER 70-S6 weld metal chemical analysis does not meet A No. 1.
If you have qualified a WPS with Er 70-S3 etc, then this wire is not acceptable. ( Manganese content is more than 1.6% in weld metal)

Dear All,
Vessel is being fabricated as per ASME SEC VIII DIV 1.
Base material - SA 516 GR 70 HIC - 30 mm Thk. IMPACT TEST not required.
normally we are using E 7018 for SMAW, ER 70S2 for GTAW & F7P8 EH12K for SAW Process to weld above base material.
Can we use E7018-1 for SMAW, ER 70 S6 for GTAW & F7P8 EH12K for SAW for the above base material.
Please Advice.
Thanks & Regards
Asad Azmi
