RE: [MW:13960] REQUIRMENT FOR TEMPORARY BLIND FLANGE USED FOR HYDROTEST

Hi

Temporary Blind flanges thickness may be layered to meet the hydrotest
pressure thickness. However, the welding of both plates shall be layered as
per ULW-17(g) and fig ULW 17.4 of ASME Sec VIII, Div.1.

When two plates are welded, which means only welded at edges.
so there is chance of are gap between the plates else where, which is
effectively single plate thk. (If lamination exisit at 50mm depth on
100 mm plate then effective thk is only 50mm). same logic applies.
