There is one particular mode of transfer, GMAW-STT This may be considered as a SC Mode also

GMAW –

·         Short circuiting arc transfer

·         Globular transfer

·         Spray transfer

·         Pulsed arc transfer

 

For more general information see AWS Welding Handbook, volume 2, Welding Processes, Chapter 4 – metal transfer mechanisms starting on page 112.  Selection of transfer mode is usually determined on the basis of material thickness.
