Re: [MW:19141] electrode mechanical testing

Dear friend

Generally mechanical tests prepared from a radiography accepted test assembly which is welded in predefined conditions. Such tests are tensile (all weld meta), impact and in few cases transverse tensile, hardness and bend test. Also chemical analysis from weld metal or rod may be added. (for details you have to refer to the related std.)

About the quality, all approved producers shall satisfy minimum requirements indicated by standards. But the subject is how much they can be overqualified. They work on the usability of they products and improving the consuming time and economical issues. So the producer is very important and some specifications require re-qualification in case of changing welding consumables producers.

Dear All,

Please share with me what all are the common tests(mechanical and
other) done for the testing of  elecetrodes & filler wires to check
their integrity ? also the changes of country of origins play
importatnt role on quality ?

thanks in advance,
