RE: [MW:17768] WPS no. on PQR

No, it is not required.    See QW-200.2 (b) – Contents of the PQR.  “The completed PQR shall document all essential and , when required supplementary essential variables of QW-250 through QW-280 for each welding process used during welding of the test coupon.  Non-essential and other variables used during the welding of the test coupon may be recorded at the manufacturers or contractors option.  . . . “  There is no requirement for recording a WPS number.

Further, regarding the form provided by Sc IX “ Form QW-483, see Nonmandatory Appendix B, has been provided as a guide for the PQR.  . . .”

See also the last paragraph of QW-100.1 “The PQR documents what occurred during welding the test coupon and results of testing of the coupon.  As a minimum, the PQR shall document the essential variables and other specific information identified in Article II for each process used during welding the test coupon and the results of the required testing.  In addition when notch toughness testing is required for procedure qualification, the applicable supplementary essential variables for each process shall be recorded.”

For ASME Section IX it is NOT required.

When stating requirements, one should provide Code reference(s) otherwise indicate it is an “opinion”.
