Dear All
Carrying out PMI test on these two materials types weld joints does not solve our friend's problem. This test is usually carried out on SS steel weld joints for chemical composition verification this test is not specified for LTCS or CS
As I said before if the client had approved the PQR and subsequently the WPS and signed and also accepted the DWR's then he cannot instruct joint cut out at such a late stage
That is what is the issue here

--A333 has higher Mn content than A106 and can this can be the criteria for identification.Dear Mohamed:Use Positive Material Identification (PMI) and check the Mn content of the base metal (and weld metal).
Another method is hardness test. Normally A333 should have lower hardness comparing to A106 but it is not a clear distinction (I do not recommend this test but it is easy and cost effective since you can use portable hardness testers).Insist on one of these methods, especially PMI. It has a reasonable logic and some clients use it for verification of LTCS pipes like A333 otherwise you will have to cut and go through the fabrication all over again.
