Re: [MW:17813] Using of electrodes (2.5mm) one brand upto certain thickness and using 3.2 mm electrodes of other brand in remaining thickness.

if mechanical property is same ,u can use bcoz according to sec 9 dia is not essential variable for welding so according to me u can use it,unfortunatly the same issue is on my site but our client agree to use different comany of electrode but both the company had pass their electrode qualification test.

Dear experts

Kindly guide me Using of electrodes (2.5mm) one brand upto certain thickness and using 3.2 mm electrodes of other brand in remaining thickness. Our scope is welding of 12mm thick Pipe in offshore platform. we have 3.2mm electrodes of Manitowoc and 2.5mm electrodes of ESAB. Specification of electrode is AWS A5.5, E9018M-H4.

As per my opinion with the same mechanical properties can be used. Guide me if any thing is different.
