[MW:17837] Mechanical Testing

Dear All,

I am to qualify a welding procedure on a 6 inches x 14.3mm and the following test will be required according to API 1104and Client specification;

1.         2 transverse tensile

2.         4 Side Bend Test

3.         1 Macrography alone

4.         1 Macrography + Hardness

5.         1 All weld Tenile test

6.         3 set of Charpy @ WMC, FL, FL+2

7.         1 Weld Metal Chemical Analysis @ root zone and filler passes

8.         Micro analysis of the to capture the fusion lines b/w the weld and the base material

9.         SCC test at 12, 3 and 6 o'clock positions.

 

the following are my question.

 

i.      Will the test coupon be enough to extract all the required samples for the required test

 

ii.    Is it posibly to perform an All Weld Tensile test on 6inches pipe considering the fact that the test sample will be curved.

 

iii.    The location where the SCC test sample will be drawn has other test samples like Charpy and Hardness/Macro to be taken, can I use the same sample for the hardness/macro for the SCC test.

 

iv.   Is it necessary to still perform All weld tensile test when the consumable comply to ASME II part C SFA5.01 class C5 for covered electrodes (SMAW) and Class S3 for bare wire (GTAW) and the level of test is Schedule I.

 

Please I need your response as soon as you can.
