I believe LAS stands for Low Alloy Steel

Some of the major requirements are dictated as follows

- For Carbon Steel, PWHT requirements are always above 19mm thickness, whereas LAS being Cr-Mo steel in general are Hardenable, so pre-heat and PWHT can be requirements irrespective of material thickness like P-91 and P-22

- For Carbon Steel, Electrode Qualification test is not mandatory and we can select on the basic of its Material Test Certificate, whereas for Low Alloy Steel, Electrode Qualification Test is mandatory which include Chemical Pad test also for each batch (PS: In Carbon Steel, however LTCS requires Electrode Qualification test)

- For Carbon Steel, no requirement of PMI (Positive Material Identification) whereas for LAS , PMI is mandatory
