[MW:20829] weld repair to casting - BM thickness range qualified - QW 202.3

Dear Experts,
please share your valuable inputs for the below query:

background:

I have done a PQR with charpy impact applicable for that material.

Plate thickness: 20 mm, in which groove made to 13 mm and is welded. (Refer figure 1)

This PQR test weldment is subjected to PWHT as Normalize + quench and tempered.

Figure:1

This allows range qualification as per QW 451.1 with base material to 5-22 mm and weld metal up to 26 mm.

Query:

  1. Can I use WPS with the thickness range qualified (PQR) as above for a repair of casting (as shown in the figure 2) having thickness 40 mm and excavation to deep 20 mm.

Figure 2:

  1. Whether the thickness below excavation is considered as parent metal backing and excavated depth is as base metal thickness?

Thanks,

MANIVANNAN.P
