RE: [MW:16372] SENSITISATION OF STAINLESS STEEL.

Vinu,

ASTM 262 is the industry followed stanadrd for intergranular corrosion test. This stsndard  is divdeinto 5 test categoriies:-
  • Practice A- Oxalic Acid  Etch Test for Classification of Etch Structures .
  • Practice B—Ferric Sulfate–Sulfuric Acid Test for Detecting Susceptibility to Intergranular Attack

  • Practice C—Nitric Acid Test for Detecting Susceptibility to Intergranular Attack

  • Practice E—Copper–Copper Sulfate–Sulfuric Acid Test for Detecting Susceptibility to Intergranular Attack

  • Practice F—Copper–Copper Sulfate–50 % Sulfuric Acid Test for Detecting Susceptibility to Intergranular Attack

The best screening for sentization is possible by Practice -A test. Usually a presnce of "Ditched microsotructure" is an indication of sensitization. You may please conatct an experiences laboratory for furtherdeatils.

Thanks.

Subject: [MW:16359] SENSITISATION OF STAINLESS STEEL.

Dear Member,

How can i detect or find out if a stainless steel material is sensitised or not.?
Is there any tests to find sensitisation of ss?codes?

Thankyou!
