As per valubale guidance:- of Hot Welding & Cold Welding..
 
1) Is it applicable to ASTM A216 Gr.WCB Castings (Valves Bodies) on follwing situation & condition:-
a) If there is failure in hydro test leak in valve bodies i.e casting leak in Valve bodies
 
Similarly
2) ASTM A217 Gr.WC6 Castings (Valves Bodies)
3) ASTM A217 Gr.WC9 Castings (Valves Bodies)
4) ASTM A217 Gr.C5 Castings (Valves Bodies)
5) ASTM A217 Gr.C12 Castings (Valves Bodies)
6) ASTM A351 Gr.CF3M Castings (Valves Bodies)

By and large Gray and nodular cast irons are weldable, NOT THE WHITE CAST IRONS.

The  recommended  electrodes for welding these  two mentioned varieties are :- Pure -99% Nickel type, and 55 -45 Ni-Fe type . By and large a sustained preheat & interpass temperature control  would be recommended - of the range 150-250 Deg C. Note cast iron can be only repaired,do not expect to have very high level of  metallurgical integrity from this repair.
