I agree with QC dept This uneven portion require to be welded in taper matching with thicker joint As this sharp joint becomes the stress concentration may cause failure in service

Pls find the attached pic. and advice as the spool is hold by quality control dept, they want me to fill the taper area, and i am not agreed cos its not bevel, pls provide some proof.
