Hi Vikas,

Following are the recommendations of ASME Sec-IX.

·         QW-405.2--Vertical-uphill progression (e.g., 3G, 5G, or 6G position) qualifies for all positions.

·         QW-404.4-For hard-facing and corrosion-resistant weld metal overlay, qualification in the 3G, 5G, or 6G positions, where 5G or 6G pipe coupons include at least one vertical segment completed utilizing the up-hill progression or a 3G plate coupon is completed utilizing the up-hill progression, shall qualify for all positions.

Basically  for procedure qualification 3G- up qualifies for all position. However same is not true for performance qualification..

Thanks.
