RE: [MW:4338] RE: 4335] PWHT OF MATERIAL P No.5B

you should follow Time and temp as per your design code i.e. Sec VIII div 1 (i.e 675 °C minimum) and ensure base metal tempering temperature should be above 675 °C with 15min holding time.
pre heat at 204 °C (refer Appendix R, non mandatory, however recommended)
PWHT temp given in Sec IIC is for qualification testing of consumables only, this will vary for each design code, for e.g ASME B31.3 min holding time is 704 °C

Dear all,

I need the following information.

what is the minimum holding time?
What is the preheat and interpass temperature?

i have to make 1" sch 80 SA 335 Gr. P5  coil and there are 5 butt joints and i have to qualify wps aslo as per ASME SEC. IX.
As per ASME SEc. VIII Div. I normal holding temp. is 675 degree C and minimum holding time is 15 minutes.
and as per ASME SEC. II part C Holding temp. is 745 degree C and holding time  is 1 hr./ in.

Thanks & Best Regards.
