Re: Re: [MW:28672] Impact requirement of multiple process and different Group number

Thats great.

If the code of construction is B31.3, you follow the specific requirements for WPS impact qualification. If the requirements for impact qualification are more stringent than Section IX, so be it. Remember Section IX is a service code book and when a code of construction requires more stringent requirements, they must be followed. anyhow Check, B 31.3 Table 323.3.1 A5 and QW 403.6.

API 1104 and ASME IX have different mechanical testing requirements, as well as different requirements for testing equipment. You could use the same welding parameters and develop welding procedures that meet the requirements of each relevant code/specification, but the testing must meet the requirements of each relevant code/specification. In general, API 1104 will require more mechanical testing than will an ASME IX WPS, however, you cannot use the API 1104 test results to develop an ASME IX WPS for reasons stated above.

Thanks.

What is the construction Code?
Pls note that Section IX does not deal with impact test at all

Dear All,

PQR conducted on P1G1#p1G3 with wall thickness 7.8 mm. Root Hot Pass with GTAW and Remaining SMAW.

1) Is this required to carry out impact test of HAZ for both G1 and G3 material ?

2) Is it required to carry out impact test for both GTAW and SMAW process separately ??

With Regards
