Hardly yes, it is an essential variable as per API 1104, para 12.5.1, as it gets changed in 12.5.2 which requires a requalification but as per the clause from 12.5.1  which also states ''Changes other than those listed in 12.5.2 may be made in the procedure without the need for requalification, provided the welding procedure specification is revised to show the changes'' in this case you can be waived with revision as when the electrodes are same only brand / trade is different which is basically understood that it is acceptable of similar composition.

With reference to the above subject,our contractor want to change electrode brand and manufacturer.

So I would like to know should I need to create new Welding procedure again due to changes in electrode brand and manufacturer?
