Re: [MW:28646] Welder qualification thickness of API 1104

As per clauses 6.2.2.a.2 and 6.3.1 and 6.3.2.a.2 of API 1104, you do not have provision to qualify something what has been described below, because the consequences of ASME IX are different from API 1104 and it is more stringent.

Thanks.

Subject: [MW:28638] Welder qualification thickness of API 1104
Dear All,

i have deployed two welder for root-hotpass and filler-capping.

thickness of joint is 6.6 mm.  Root- hotpass combined deposited thickness is 4 mm and remaining  2 mm thickness is fillled up with another welder.

Now how can I distribute the thickness qualification for different welders.

Can I consider Nominal thickness for both welders ?

or Should i split thickness for both welders ??

Pls help

With Regards

Ray
