WPS : 2.27-11.54mm gtaw. CS.
We have 10mm pipe16" CS and 1" weldolet(16mm groove thk #Tm)
Shall WPS cover both the thk to weld?
REPLY: WPS should cover the welded portions thickness and weld deposition.
Weldolet design thk(Tb) means 10mm shall consider for selection of WPS?
REPLY: (c) The nomenclature and symbols used herein, in Fig. 328.5.4D, and in Fig. 328.5.4F are Tb = nominal thickness of branch, Th = nominal thickness of header Tm = nominal thickness of the branch
weld for integrally reinforced branch connection fittings, either
(1) as specified by the manufacturer of the branch connection fitting(2) the full depth of the resultant weld groove, after fit-up, if no manufacturer's weld thickness is specified
(3) as documented and specified in the engineering design in accordance with para. 300(c)(3), or
(4) calculated and documented in accordance with the requirements of para. 304.7.2 Tr p nominal thickness of reinforcing pad or saddle tc p lesser of 0.7Tb or 6 mm (1⁄4 in.) tmin p lesser of Tb or Tr
REPLY:Owners approved WPS for the project is mandated.
My opinion is we need to consider Tb 10mm thk for weldolet and we can weld pipe to weldolet with available WPS.
REPLY: Just Contemplate, your deposition will be within the approved WPS then you can use , as your PQR will be 5.57 and your 11.54 will be the max for deposition?

M.Muneeb.

Hi,
my interpretation of the clause 3.6.1 is as follows;
A combination of, QUALIFIED and PREQUALIFIED WPS'S = I interpret this as
either qualified WPS+qualified WPS, Qualified+Prequalified or
Prequalified+Prequalified.
..may be used without any requalification for the combination.
So it nowhere states that existing qualified combinations can be split into
2 separate WPS's.
Above is my interpretation,
