RE: [MW:28275] how to select filler metal for a specific Material according to ASME Section IX

Adeel,

SA517 Gr B is Q&T steel, with very high tensile strength . Selection of welding consumables matters a lot on the design conditions. Go to the web page of this group. Type in SA 517 in the search box, you'll find tons of discussions and answers.

Welding of this steel is not easy. Hence don't adopt hit and miss approach. Get a knowledgeable  welding engineer to help your organization.

Thanks.

Dear Experts,

Please answer this question

For example designer selected a material SA517 Gr B for work.

I went to to table Q/QB 422 for P no. & G no. ... I found P no. is 11B and G no. 4.

Then i went to Section ii Part A where i found SA 517 Material is alloy steel and its SFA no. is 5.5.

After that what shuould I do ?

experts (Who has thorough of ASME Section IX) please tell me step  by step how to select exact filler material. from section ii part C.

I shall be very thankful to All of you for this act of kindness.
