Vinod,

I would say that was a wise discussion. Although I had dropped a few lines on safe welding practices as per API -510, later after browsing through API-579(Section-11, Assessment of Fire Damage ), I realized that a lot more things are desired for proper assessment for any fire damage , then only any welding/ refurbishing should be thought of.

It would be a good idea to get some heads up from API-579 on such damages in future . There're are some typical  examples on assessment of fire damages of various plants and equipments in this API/ASME book.

Thanks for the valuable suggestions. Looking to the risk involved and the time period required to carry out the repair we have decided to put in a globe valve to control flow temperorily (as process allows for it) and to procure new valve body.
