Re: [MW:26889] RE: 26879] Weld overlay PD5500

In ISO 15614-1;2017. There are 2 levels are available. Level 1 is same as ASME Section 9 requirements and Level 2 is ISO 15614-1;2017. If u have a qualifications of level2 qualify level 1 but not vice versa. So you have to go for new WPQR

Hello Abhishek,

Existing ASME Sec-IX qualified PQR's will not meet the requirements of ISO-15614-7(2007 version). Please see the extracts on the dimension of test coupons and various testing requirements.

Note the footnotes are the fine prints.

If your organization is in  the business of  fabricating pressure vessels to PD 5500, it's advisable to have separate set of  PQR's qualified to ISO-15614-7 .

In fact one PQR may support many required Welding Procedure Specifications  if all the testing are done with good prior thinking.

Thanks.

Subject: [MW:26879] Weld overlay PD5500

Dear Experts,

In my Job construction code is PD5500. Can I use Overlay  PQR qualified as per ASME Sec. IX instead of EN15614-7??

Regards

Abhishek Singh
