According to ASME IX & B31.3 , Can we use ER308 for welding of SS316 pipe?
ER308 electrodes uses for welding of CS to SS not for SS.
for SS316 welding you can go for 316 electrodes.
if you use SS308 electrodes for SS316 , it would crack.
