Dear,
Gate valve is usually bidirectional. There may be problems with regard to,
1. The operating mechanism(if applicable)  like gear unit or actuator with face the other direction which may be problematic in terms of access and other nearby pipelines or means.
2. If hand operated the same issue of ease of operation.
3. Identifications like nameplate usually on front side. So affects ease of identification.

Functionally there is no problem.
