Re: [MW:23214] Re: EBW in titanium for T>50mm

Sir,
Thank you for this information. As far as GTAW is concerned we have much of expertise.

We had also enquired at DRDL,HAL etc. But they regreted.

For BARC, haven't enquired as I didnt get any contact. If u have any pl share.

If that also doesn't work, what u suggest? I think SAW to be carried.

Thank you.

Dear Mr.Sangamnerkar,

I doubt about the capabilities of EBWs available in India to meet your demand .For 3 to 4 meter diameter you have to use partial vacuum EBW system which works in open air .Such a facility was demonstrated by SCIAKY ,Frnace in 1776 if I remember correctly during my training at this facility and I participated in this programme. We welded 80 mm thich SS 316 vessel of dia same as yours .In this system the EBW gun will move along the vessel covering the joint area with a special partial vacuum system . OSAKA university people developed another machine in which the vessel is kept in a vacuum room and the beam is impinged on the vessel mounted on a rotary positioner .

For your immediate use please use normal TIG welding and a roller positioner rotate the vessel. Please inform your location ,vessel dimensions and code requirement .If you need an welding expert to visit you for procedure qualification with TIG please inform .
