Hello Experts Client has encountered
what appears to be a corrosive attack in the HAZ of the pipe
to tee welds on Metaltek 20/32 Nb material. This area was
solution annealed at 2000 F for 6 hours. The corroded/eroded
areas were not present prior to solution annealing based on
previous inspection.
The area has been penetrant tested with no
relevant indications. It has also been examined by phased
array with no evidence of cracking. It appears the base
metal has eroded under the weld bead in the area of the
HAZ.
Can you please offer opinions on the cause and
corrective actions, if possible? Thanks and Best
Regards,Ramesh
