[MW:23202] Interpretation of ASME B 31.3 Clause 331.1.3

Dear Experts,

What will be the thickness requirement for PWHT of Branch Weld(O-Let) and Support direct welded to the pipe.
ASME B 31.3 clause 331.1.3 says
When components are joined by welding, the thickness to be used in applying the heat treatment provisions of Table 331.1.1 shall be that of the thicker component measured at the
joint, except as follows:
a) (a) In the case of branch connections, metal (other than weld metal) added as reinforcement, whether an integral part of a branch fitting or attached as a reinforcing pad or saddle, shall not be considered in determining heat treatment requirements.

If i am adding reinforcement pad / Cradle support > 20mm thick directly welded to the run pipe, is it required PWHT regardless of material or service?

Heat treatment is required, however, when the thickness through the weld in any plane through the branch is greater than twice the minimum material thickness requiring heat treatment, even though the thickness of the components at the joint is less than the minimum thickness.

If i have a 20mm thick pipe and i am welding one O-let we have a weld size maximum 30 mm. Did i need PWHT on the case?  or if the weld size is 40 mm then only i need to do the PWHT?

I am just confused to get the actual Pipe thickness required for PWHT for Branch Connection (Pipe-Pipe, Pipe - Olet) and also for support-pipe welding. I need this reagrdless of material and service.

Can you please clarify.
I will be helpful with your valuable comment.
