Dear all,
In one of our export Job, we are facing following problem at the last stage. Expert comments will be highly appretiated in this regard.
The details are as follows.
Design code ASME SEC VIII DIV 1
MOC-SA516GR 70+ SB 424 UNS NO8825(Alloy 825)
BASIC CONCERN- At the last stage of visual inspection ,TPI found some dent marks depth max upto 0.7mm on the 3mm thk clad surface.
The job is already passed in hydro test after PWHT.
Now to do repair of these dent marks we have proposed GTAW Process for base metal
SB 424 UNS NO8825 TO SB424 UNS NO 8825.
This was by considering the repair only at clad surface & not in base metal i.e.SA516GR70.
Client Remarks- GTAW weld overlay Process to be qualified instead of GTAW butt joint Process with all applicable tests along with Hardness Test.
Pl note that This is basically a clad repair procedure and to demonstrate a no new HAZ formation on the base metal
PL SHARE YOUR COMMENTS ABOUT SUITABILITY OF PROCESS.
Best Regards,
Vinit
