In no Code. The Codes require full engagement of threads. The number of protruding threads is a sound engineering practice.
Remember that Codes and Standards are no handbooks and do not cover all aspects

choose such a length that after tightening two threads at  least are protruding from the nut

I need bolt length for 30" flange 150# RF ASME B16.47 SERIES A. How can i calculate bolt length as per ASME B16.47 series A? Bolt length is not given in ASME B 16.47. Please guide me.
