RE: [MW:22300] Pressure test gauges clarification

Hi,
Instead of code first we have to understand that when the ranges are different their accuracy levels also surly different.
And in such cases it will be difficult to interpret the results.
Further to that even if accuracy is also same reading the pressure from a PG will be also a complicated when compare to both, even a paradox error will also cause a 1 kg difference.
Hence better to keep both the gauges in the same range.

Thanks and regards.

Dear Santhosh,

As per my knowledge,

"minimum of two pressure gauges shall be within 5 % of one another when in use"

This means when you have pressurised  the vessel or equipment the  pressure difference in both the gauges shall be within 5% errror.
Like when you pressurise the equiment to 10 bar then both the gauges should show within 5% error( 10 bar or10.5 bar)

Dear All,

Can anyone tell me What is the minimum gauge range difference in a pressure testing?

Let me explain clearly, now my hydro test pressure is 10 bar. As per ASME Sec VIII Div 1 UG-102 TEST GAGES and ASME Sec V ARTICLE 10 LEAK TESTING T-1030 EQUIPMENT I can use pressure gauge range 1.5 to 4 times of the test pressure i.e. 0-15 Bar to 0-40 barg.

Now my question is can I use these both the gauges (0-15 Bar to 0-40 barg) in a single pressure? If yes please give me code reference.

There is an argument saying that the "minimum of two pressure gauges shall be within 5 % of one another when in use"

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Santosh.
