[MW:21782] Tube to Tube Sheet Seal Welding Procedure Qualification

Dear Experts,

Good day to all of you. In one of our project, TTP Joints seal welding procedure to be qualified in acc. with ASME Sec. IX and EEMUA-143. In our Job TTP joints is seal welding + Strength Expansion (Tube holes enhanced with 2 grooves)

I have referred EEMUA-143 but I think it is for Strength welded TTP joints. Seal welding of TTP Joints may be done with or without addition of filler metal. Fillet size is not specified in the drawings. My queries are (1) Is it possible to pass the test as per EEMUA-143 (viz. Macro Exam., tear test, RT and Minimum Leak Path) and additionally tests specified in ASME Sec. IX?

I think since it is seal welding, only Pull Out Load test as per ASME Sec. VIII Div. 1 Non-mandatory Appendix A, Visual Insp. and DP test can be carried out. Minimum Leak Path Dimensions and can not be achieved Macro Exam. Further, Seal welds are not included in tube sheet strength calculations.

Please respond to my queries at the earliest.

Thanking you in advance

With Best Regards,

C. R. GANDHI
