[MW:17168] Re: API 1104 Wall thickness qualification for Auto-welding

Dear ali,

Means U have establish 4.8mm to 19mm any changes from beyond that req requalification. Please note that as per API Diameter is non essential( u can switches from one group to another group dia within thickeness range example OD less than 2.375 in WPS   TO NEW WPS OD 2.375 in.through 12.750 in with same thickenss range.)

12.5.2.4 Wall Thickness
A change in wall thickness beyond the range established in
the procedure specification constitutes an essential variable

5.4.2.5 Wall Thickness
A change from one wall thickness group to another constitutes
an essential variable.

Dear All,

Please guide me about interpretation of clause 12.5.2.4 of API 1104
regarding wall thickness of Automatic welding process which states "a
change in wall thickness beyond the range established in the procedure
specification constitutes an essential variable"
In my PQR sample thickness is 12.7 mm process is GMAW (STT)/FCAW.  If
I specify thickness range from 4.8 to 19.1 mm (group "b" of API) will
it be OK?
Please give your interpretation/thoughts of above clause what would be
my qualified thickness range with using above PQR thickness.

Thanks in advance
