Re: [MW:17206] Globe Valves

Dear expert,

i would like to clarify my views for your doubts:
a, Generally globe valve nut is tack welded with bonnet, because stem is rotating with hand wheel while opening or closing.
b, To avoid the rotaion of nut,nut is tack welded with bonnet, any service point we can grind the tack weld and remove the nut.
c, For gate valve, hand wheel is fixed with nut and rotating while opening, because stem should not rotate while opening.
e, Both valves are made as per API 602 code

Why was the stem nut tack welded to the bonnet in the first place? If you weld a nut to make it fixed, it no longer is a nut.

Dear Experts,

what's your opinion about attached image for (1/2 inch #1500 globe valve) which the stem nut attached to the bonnet with tack weld and as i know it's not acceptable to make a tack weld in valve body. could you give your opinion based on standards ASAP.
the manufacture code for this valve is API 602.
