Subject: [MW:17149] Welding of Weldox 700 plate with backing

Dear  welding peole

We had Weldox 700 plate with 6 mm thickness, using GMAW method with backing.

First we made:    2  passes  with ER110SG   (1.2 dia wire) with backing : failed ( root bending)
Second         :     3 passes  with ER110SG (1.2 dia wire) with backing  and pre heating(25 C) : failed (root bending)

We will try for the 3rd time.  I am planing to use :

ER100SG (1 mm  dia wire)  with backing ------------ root run
ER110SG (1mm dia wire) with backing    ------------ all other
we will apply preheat also (around 25 C)

Is there anyone has experience about 6mm weldox 700 with backing. Do you have any PQR and WPS ?

Regards
