----- Original Message -----From: Moen - QASent: Sunday, May 02, 2010 2:53 PMSubject: [MW:5002] Increasing the mechanical sternght by Quenching and tempering.Dear All,
Can any body guide me on how to increase the mechanical strength of an X52 or X60 pipe?
We want to perform a quenching and tempering heat treatment on pipe of Grade X52 and X60 in order to achieve a mechanical strength equal to the X65 pipe.
I am not familiar with this process, appreciate if anyone can answer to the below question,
1) Is it possible to enhance the mechanical properties by QT?
2) What should be the quenching and tempering temperatures?
3) Medium for quenching
4) Tempering temperature and holding time.
5) Is there any formula which utilizes the chemical composition to find out the quenching and tempering temperature and holding time etc?
6) Method of heating.
If any one has done this before please share you experience.
Thanks & Regards
Syed Moin
