RE: [MW:5131] Equivalent specification for St 52.3

Dear Mr.Shiraz,
You are planning to float the tender for line pipes so EN 10219 and EN 10210 may be applicable to you. As suggested by Mr.bathula you should go through with this spec and consult the designer for confirmation of the grade and specification. You should also keep in mind the project specific.

EN 10025-2 is for flat and long product which is not applicable in your case since you are going to procure pipes.

Good Morning,

Thanks for your reply. I am confused guys.
Kindly note the following;

·
Below mail from Mr.
Rutvik states that St 52.3 according to edition EN10025-2 converted to S355J0.

·
While a mail from Mr.
Hermen Pieper states two specs. EN 10210 & EN 10219 in which St 52.3 is
called S355J0H or S355J2H.

Friends I am confused. Please can you clarify
the above since I have to float tender for 850MM, 750MM, & 650MM with Dia;
19MM, 25MM, Length 12 Mtrs.  Floating and Shore Line Pipes which is a high
value tender.

Your swift response will be appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your cooperation.

With best Regards,

Shiraz Parvez

  Hi Shiraz,

You are talking about Non alloy structural steel st 52.3 German grade. This
grade was under EN 10025 -93 edition. As per my knowledge 2004 edition is
current edition for EN 10025-2 and  in which for st 52.3U( old grade)
converted to S355J0 ( Impact at 0 deg.C) and for st
  52.3N     ( old grade) converted to S355J2(Impact at -20
  deg.C)

Here S denotes structural steel and 355 denotes its yield strength.

I have inspected this material in plate form at various steel plants.

  Good
  Morning,

  I
have been informed by one of my suppliers dealing in Floating & Shore
line pipes that Grade St 52.3 is discontinued and replaced. Can I have more
details on this issue? It is very important. And can you provide detaisl on

Re: [MW:34105] SA266 GR4N 4 Cycle SPWHT

Hi,  You are correct, Minimum refers to the one cycle for which this part will expose until final work shop PWHT. hence mill test certificate shall include this.  Max. SPWHT, refers to additional cycles of heat treatment that are reserved for future repairs during equipment lifetime.  Again, these simulated no. Of cycles shall be specified in MTC.  The idea is we need to make sure that steel mechanical properties are not compromised upon exposure to multiple repairs (i e 4 cycles in your case).  One could say, if steel is subjected to 4 cycles and is ok, then it should by defacto be good for one cycle, yet, this is wrong assumption cause mechanical problems and microstructure of materials varies accordingly based on no. Of cycles for which material will expose. This is apparent in alloy steel and especially for impact test values as an example.  In your case, this forged CS with properties before PWHT can be understood to be " as forged" condition (i.e. Wit...

Heat tint (temper) colours on stainless steel surfaces heated in air // Heat tint

Introduction The colour formed when stainless steel is heated, either in a furnace application or in the heat affected zone of welds, is dependent on several factors that are related to the oxidation resistance of the steel. The heat tint or temper colour formed is caused by the progressive thickening of the surface oxide layer and so, as temperature is increased, the colours change.   Oxidation resistance of stainless steels However, there are several factors that affect the degree of colour change and so there is no a single table of colour and temperature that represents all cases. The colours formed can only be used as an indication of the temperature to which the steel has been heated. Factors affecting the heat tint colours formed Steel composition The chromium content is the most important single factor affecting oxidation resistance. The higher the chromium, the more heat resistant the steel and so the development of the heat tint colou...
