Re: [MW:22979] Requirements Of PWHT for the Cross Country Pipe Lines - Reg

Hello Raj,

While Working on any project, you need to consider the client specification and the reference Code/Standard as stipulated in the contract document. Where there is conflit, the most strigent condition supercedes or issue a technical query to your client for clarification.

As per your query, you will need to check your client specification, they may have specifiy that PWHT is performed on such thinckness as 38mm and beside, your qualify WPS shall be limited to PWHT requirement and cannot be used otherwise.

I have a question for you, why did you qualify the WPS with PWHT if you do not want to use it and if you know the requirement of API 1104. What was on your mind when you are performing the WPQR and to what code have you qualified it?

Dear Experts,

We have done PQR with PWHT for the Material APL 5L Grade X60, and the coupon Size is 40 Inch & the Thickness is 38 mm with the Construction code application of API 1104 (Cross Country Pipe Line)

Based on the results we prepared WPS Also, But, As per API 1104 for 38.00 mm THK PWHT is not required

Now The Aramco PID instructed to follow the WPS to do all the Joints PWHT

What is the remdy for this & hat should we do

Kindly drop your advise

Thanks & Warm Regards,
