[MW:22947] RE: 22940] X70 API 5L "PSL2".

Not understood. PSL 2 is a quality requirement for linepipe.  The choice of welding consumable does not have to correspond with PSL 2. What the consumables have to correspond to are the strength requirements, the toughness requirements and the corrosion test requirements appropriate to the application as defined in the project specification (and that may not have toughness or corrosion requirements – which are entirely application dependent). I can understand a restriction on the use of E**10 electrodes for many pipeline applications – but that is an entirely separate matter.

Dear experts.

For pipeline construction, diameter 20 ", thickness 12.7mm and 20,62mm, as API 5L X70 steel" PSL2 "(attached image). We had considered making welding procedures (mechanical tests) SMAW process standard API 1104 with E8010- G.

Inspection (audit) requires us to accomplish with E9010-G, according to inspection (audit) E8010-G does not correspond to API 5L X70 "PSL2".

Please give me your opinion on this technique to determine further action.

Thanks and regards.
