Re: [MW:20317] QW-403.12 in ASME IX

Dear Dr.Georgios Dilintas,

You can refer ASME Sec.IX QW-250, the Clause QW403.12 are only applicable for QW-257(PAW) and QW269(Hybrid Plasma GMAW).
It is NOT applicable for SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, SAW qualifications.

You can also refer Table QW-424.1 which allows P5A to P5A PQR also qualifies for P5A to P4, P3 or P1.

Best regards,
Thiyagu

Does any body knows if the above clause can be applied in case of SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, SAW qualifications?
On my opinion it can not be applied, so a PQR with Pno 5A can not qualify a WPS with Pno 1 or Pno 4, but I have a client who insists that Pno45 qualifies Pno 1 and 4.
Is there any interpretation or Code Case on this?

    best regards

    Dr. Georgios Dilintas
