Re: [MW:20314] Gamma radiography without interruption of production

Dear Jani

Thanks for your advise.
We shoot 10mm to 50mm thk plate or pipe.
We use iridium as source of radiation.

Among the three methods stated below by you, I think the first two can be considered in our factory.

So I kindly request you to give me more details( brand/manudacturer/part name/ size / dimensions of block / material used /supplier details etc ) of the 2 methods to reduce intensity.

Thanks n regards
Raj

Hello Raj
Upto what thickness Radiography required at your end and what sources you are using?
There is a way to reduced intensity of radiation. One is start using Collimator ( one device which will make rays in certain required direction only). Second make movable shielding block with different material as available with you. Third is make Bunker or say Enclosure where you can load job and radigraphy can be done without any safety failure.

I recomended use face array ultrasonic inspection with omniscan equipment of krautkramer, as good as RT and no stop production.

There is "Safe Rod " which can be used  . If your company is ready to invest in NDT go ahead with " safe rod " but it is a costly method . It doesn't require any barrication and your site can run and RT can be carried out as well

Dear Experts
Good day to everyone.
In our factory mostly we are using Paut, sometimes we are using gamma source for certain joints as nde method.
And therefore its affecting our production because of safety issues, so I would like to know is there any safe method by using certain equipment which blocks radiation and which is really safe enough to do production even if radiography is going on next to production according to singapore safety rules and regulations.
Thanks in advance
Raj
