both are acceptable by the Code.
I, personally, prefer the ellipse (exposure arrangement F in Article 2 - Section V)

for pipe dia less than 88.9 we r using RT technique superimpose(three exposure) and ellipse(two exposure).
which one is better?. or both are same in context of defect evaluation.
